Our Story
From a single-bay barn to a 25-bay campus, Kleyn Mobile Repair has always been fueled by founder Joe Kleyn’s hands-on passion for engines and honest craftsmanship. Joe grew up one of thirteen kids on a dairy farm in Tasmania, spending his spare time tinkering with bikes and cars before earning an apprenticeship with CAT. In 2001 he crossed the Pacific with his parents and younger siblings, wrench in hand, and in 2007 opened Kleyn Mobile Repair in Jenison, Michigan. Word spread quickly about a mechanic who never said “can’t,” and by 2015 demand had outgrown two earlier shops—prompting construction of our current 6680 Wilshere Dr. headquarters.
Built for Every Truck—Including Fire Trucks
Today our operation spans three specialized facilities:
- 6680 Wilshere Dr. – 13 bays dedicated to light-, medium- and heavy-duty diesels, trailers, fleets, and heavy equipment.
- 6549 Wilshere Dr. – 12 automotive bays under the Kleyn Auto banner.
- 2148 Center Industrial Ct. – 10-bay Fire Division where EVT-certified technicians handle pump testing, aerial inspections, and critical repairs for departments across Michigan. Additionally, we’re also certified for sale of Toyne fire apparatuses, some of the highest and best-quality firefighting equipment in the industry.
Whether it’s an emissions issue on a Class 8, a DOT inspection for a box truck, or a full pump overhaul on a pumper, we have a bay—and a master-certified tech—ready. We’re proud to be a Parts Plus Service Center backed by the Auto Value / Confidence Plus North American Warranty, so fleets get nationwide coverage they can trust.
